New Apartment

Today I finally moved out of my shack on an old apartment and into a new one! YAY!!! The picture is me and my dad checking out the view from it. I doubt I'll ever live anywhere where I can see Regents Park, BT tower, Emirates Stadium and the London Eye all in one go. It was a pretty amazing view on bonfire night and new years eve!! I am so exhausted after 2 days on moving. Lifting and packing aren't my fortes. Thus I am thinking about heading to bed already!! BYE BYE OLD APARTMENT.

I just love my music right now. I’m so excited to have a ticket to see Shy Child @ Nation of Shopkeepers in Leeds later this month! The band is a two-piece from New York City consisting of Pete Cafarella on vocals/keytar and Nate Smith on drums. The duo was formed in New York in the summer of 2000.In the summer of 2006 they signed with UK label Wall of Sound. So I've just returned from a trip to Barcelona. It was AMAZING! Although I didn't have much time to shop I picked up some little pendants at the Cathedral there. They were a bargain at 1 euro each! Combine them with some thing ribbon to hang loose round my neck and I have my very own personal memorabilia of the trip! Doesn't anyone else just adore little trinkets etc? Spring Flowers

So what with the warmer weather and first sparkle of sunshine, I am packing away my winter jumpers and pulling out my summer dresses!! To get myself in the mood and add some colour into my wardrobe I aim to have made the perfect flower headband a la Alexa Chung in the next few days! I once dressed up as a flower fairy for Halloween (I know it isn't scary in the least!), and purchased some amazing false flowers from the local haberdashery shop. Hopefully I'll post some pictures on by the end of the week..... whilst I'm there I may take inspiration from Marc Jacobs and invest in some ribbon to add some girly hair bows to my wardrobe! I'm excited. I hope you all enjoyed the weekend and the first sun of Spring!

Even though 'The Alexa' bag has been on fashionistas everywhere radars since before the festive season, I CANNOT stop lusting after one. This desire is heavily fuelled by the fact I have to walk past the Mulberry shop every time I head to work.... and there it is..........gleaming at me through the glass! Penguin+ Aids Awareness

Penguin has collaborated with AIDS awareness fund (RED) and a team of designers to produce new covers for eight Penguin Classics. Each cover replaces the usual black band with red, employing a quote from the text of the book as the visual hit. The eight books chosen include great classics such as Dracula and Great Expectations.

I first heard Bo Ningen walking past a tent at Offset Festival last September. Not normally one for heavy noise I was tempted to walk past but stuck my head in to be nosey anyway. Looking back I'm glad I did. Currently touring around the UK they will definitely leave a lasting impression on you after seeing them perform live. The top I am wearing was a vintage find in an Oxfam shop and I have had so many compliments on it. Lovvers have been around a while now but I do wish and even pray they play some festivals in the UK this Summer! I am so excited to have the hottest ticket in town for Monday, as Yeasayer play the Faversham in Leeds. Their second album 'Odd Blood' was released previously this month and has become my running soundtrack ever since. Originally from Brooklyn, New York the band has previously toured with the likes of MGMT. I cannot wait to shake my booty to their tunes... Sweetheart necklines are everywhere this season and I for one L-O-V-E them! There's something so feminine and girly about them which enables us to embrace the female form and drift ever so slightly away from the andrognous looks of past seasons. I am particularly fond of the dress in the middle which combines lace, black and a sweetheart neckline to reflect femininity with a rocky edge. Marc Jacobs has also created this sweet little crop top which would be ideal for relaxing on a riviera somewhere come Summer........ In my dreams! This label is definitely my new fashion crush. It is just too cute and adorable for words....This label is making me want to buy everything I see on their site. The brand was formed in 2005 by ex professional surfers who wanted to create t-shirts their gfs could wear in the morning! All their collections are made in New Zealand and all maintain a quirky edge which has become synonymous with this label (source: superette.co.nz)

I am particularly lusting after the PacMan T-shirt and black body con dress. The collection is now been stocked in Liberty's of London, though I first noticed the brand on pixiemarket.com. Good news for us UK residents is that online retail giant asos.com now stock the brand. I will definitely be snapping some pieces up asap!!

Music Obsession for January 2010

My band of the month has to be the New York based 'Vivian Girls', who are currently touring around the U.K before heading back to the states. I went to see them at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds at the weekend and was wooed over by their catchy lyrics and angelic harmonies. As a girl who feels she has had her heart broken many a time, one could easily relate to their lyrics about lost loves and feelings of lust turning into bittersweet hate.
